Are you troubled by the rising cost of gas and higher education? With LCC's Cherokee Center, students are able to take courses close to home at an affordable tuition rate.

The Labette Community College Mission - to provide quality learning opportunities in a supportive environment for success in a changing world - is the primary motivation for initiating the expansion of the center in Cherokee County.

Labette Community College has renovated a 14,000 square foot, ten acre, space on the corner of highways 400 and 69, near Pittsburg to better serve the students of southeast Kansas. Seven classrooms, a student commons area with computers, and office space for faculty.

Labette Community College's expansion into Cherokee County will strengthen the relationship with Pittsburg State University. LCC is offering remedial and general education courses, which prepare students to pass placement tests that are required before taking college-level courses. We will be able to prepare students for a direct entry into college coursework and help non-traditional students brush up on their skills.
