Accessing the Library Catalog

 

Go to the Labette Community College Library Web site: http://www.labette.edu/library

Click on Library catalog

Type in a subject, a title, or an author’s name.

Press Go.

Click on The entry to get into the record.

 Additional capabilities are available when you log into the Web catalog. The login for this is your student id number and the password is your birth year.

 Accessing the Online Databases Off Campus

 Go to the Labette Community College Library page: http://www.labette.edu/Library

 Click on the Online Periodical Databases link.

 Click on the Off Campus Access link.(Staff and currently enrolled students only.)

 Type in your LCC student id number in the first blank.

 Type in the year of your birth in the second blank.

 Click on the database you want to use.

 America’s Newspapers

Select: America’s Newspapers or individual databases.

Type in: One to three keyword(s) used to describe the subject being searched. Connect the words with OR and AND. Using OR will give more hits and using AND will limit the hits.

Click on: Search (Results: list of articles)

Click on: The hyperlink of the desired article

Click on: Print in the menu on the right side of the screen.

Click on: Print articles

Retrieve: Select print from the menu or the task bar.

 Limit by: From the pull down menu choose from the following:

· Limit by publication title

· Limit by subjects

 Select : Magazines, academic journal, books, news or multimedia.

 Click on: Blue hyperlink under the title page of the article to retrieve full text article, citation, and/or abstract.

 Click on: Outline view to break down the subject into further sub-topics.

 Adjust: The date with the bar on the left hand side.

 Retrieve: Print, download, or email.

3. Select items from the results
