At Labette Community College, assessment is
a means of measuring and evaluating student learning. It leads
to improvement in teaching and learning and is used to improve
curriculum at the institution. LCC has clearly stated general
education outcomes. Course level outcomes and competencies are
used to assess the overall effectiveness of the college’s
instructional mission. LCC incorporates outcome assessment as
part of the college’s strategic planning process. Outcomes
assessment is not used for instructor evaluation, but is part of
program review.
To ensure that
LCC is fulfilling its stated academic mission and core values,
the goals of the assessment are as follows:
- Improving
the teaching and learning process in each course and
program.
- Increasing
accountability to those whose interests are served by
Labette Community College.
- Linking
instructional outcomes and competencies with the college’s
educational support services.
