The College Services section defines those services that are available
to students. LCC strives to anticipate
the needs of students and meet those needs in an organized manner. The services are listed alphabetically.
The Director of Admissions and an Adviser/Recruiter are available on
the second floor of the Student Union to assist students who are new enrollees
and for others who have not declared a concentration. These individuals will assist in the
selection of a degree objective, selection of courses, and Add/Drop Forms. For information, call (620) 421-6700, ext.
1225 or 1228.
Faculty advisers are available for those students who have made a
career choice. These students should
contact, through the Admissions Office, the person best suited for directing
them toward their chosen goal. The
adviser or appropriate Associate Dean must approve and sign each enrollment of
the student.
The Library, located on the first floor of the Main Building, is open
to all students and the community and provides an excellent place to study and
do research. It houses a collection of
approximately 27,000 volumes and 72 current periodicals. Technology continues to enhance the services
provided. Currently, the Library offers
six online periodical databases, an automated interlibrary loan program, and an
automated and Web based card catalog.
Email reference assistance, as well as many other Web based sources, are available from the Library Website, http://www.labette.edu/library.
Adequate parking is available for students. Six private parking lots on the main campus
are provided: (1) immediately north of
the Student Union; (2) west of the residence halls; (3) west of the
Each student is responsible for his/her own health insurance. The College neither endorses nor participates
in such programs for the general student population, nor does the College
provide a student health service.
Student health insurance information and applications are available in
the Student Services Office.
The College operates the co-ed residence housing located at the corner
of 13th and Broadway. There
is space available for 16 residents. Anyone
interested in the living centers should contact the Student Life Coordinator
located on the second floor of the Student Union.
The
Adult Basic Education
Provides basic skills
instruction, GED instruction and testing, English as a Second Language, and
literacy training.
Operation Excel
A federally funded TRIO (Student Support Services)
program that provides intensive, highly individualized
support services to first-generation, low-moderate income, or disabled
students. Services include academic
advising, professional and peer tutoring, workshops, cultural activities,
campus visits, and more.
Talent Search encourages potential first
generation college students to remain in school, earn a GED, and then pursue
post-secondary educational opportunities in college, vocational, or technical
schools.
Computers are available for student use in
the Student Success Center Lab.
Computerized assistance in writing, reading, and math is available on
these computers.
