This course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about different woods, their natural beauty, and their potential as a carving media.  Students will be involved in one or more projects during the semester.

Various areas of study will be introduced during this course to acquaint the student with a variety of concepts of antique criteria, yet on an elementary level.

Retrace former adventures and anticipate new ones when you join your friends on tours to destinations both familiar or new and exciting.  Escorts and local guides will share insights about the contemporary, natural, and historical aspects of the destinations visited.  This course also includes pre-trip orientation sessions and tour assignments.

Students will learn various techniques of furniture restoration through demonstrations, lectures, and actual experience.  The course will cover various methods of stripping, restoration of old finishes, veneering, and replacement of damaged or missing parts.

This course is designed to provide participants with knowledge that will aid them in preparing for and adjusting to retirement.  Topics of discussion include physical fitness, exercise, nutrition, emotional effects of retirement, social activities for the older citizen, and legal and social security information.
