Let me welcome you to Labette Community College.  Founded in 1923, our College is approaching 85 years of service to Labette, Cherokee Counties, and beyond.  Since our founding, we have served thousands of citizens through credit and noncredit programs and cultural and special events.  I truly believe that Labette Community College is one of Kansas's premier colleges.  I am very proud of our faculty, staff and administrators, who have time and again demonstrated their dedication to our students and their leadership in the field of higher education.

When the College first opened its doors, it was called Parsons Junior College. Then, many students came here mainly as a stepping-stone to a “senior” college. But times have changed, and today Labette Community College is recognized as a “first choice” for many students. Students still transfer to other institutions, but many also come to receive a degree that will lead to immediate employment. Many others come to supplement education achieved years ago and to continue their education through continuing education courses.

We have a beautiful campus, a strong faculty, small classes, well-equipped classrooms and laboratories, excellent student development programs, and a dedicated Board of Trustees that provides strong leadership to the institution. In addition, the College receives support from our Foundation, which raises funds to support need-based scholarships.

In addition to the excellent instructional programs available to students, many participate in leadership opportunities through the Student Government Association, broaden their interests through student clubs, strengthen their athletics skills through recreational and intercollegiate sports, or increase their understanding of the world at large through guest speakers and other special events. Our students have a proven track record of success at the institutions to which they transfer, and we are very proud of their many accomplishments after graduation.
