Welcome to the new Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Labette Community College! I am very excited about the implementation of this program for our students and community. I have been a physical therapist since graduating from Kansas University in 1986. I have worked in a variety of settings over the years including inpatient acute care, inpatient pain management, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient musculoskeletal, outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, long term care and home care. In 2008, I received a Masters Degree in Social Work. Additionally, I have a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Kansas Physical Therapy Association. I am currently licensed in the state of Kansas as a physical therapist.

In the summer of 2007 I graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College’s Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Directly upon graduating as a PTA I found work within my profession. My work experience includes a critical access hospital and a regional medical center. This provided a variety of settings; inpatient acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient interventions, skilled nursing care and home care. Prior to my admittance to the NEO PTA program I worked in the educational arena as a para-educator for special needs children and as an elementary school teacher. I could not have asked for a better job where I get to combine my passion for teaching with my passion for physical therapy.
