
Joe Renfro
Head Wrestling Coach
After his ninth
year as head coach for the Cards, Coach Joe Renfro has
produced 42
All-Americans; one two-time National Champ, 5 individual
National Champs, 6 runner-ups, 4 placing 3rd,
6 placing 4th, 6 placing 5th, 5
placing 6th, 3 placing 7th, and 39
Academic All-Americans. The Cards ended up with a 7th
place finish in 03 (first year), a 6th
place finish in 04 (second year), a National Title in
05 (third year), a 3rd place finish in 06
(fourth year), a National Runner-Up finish in 07 (fifth
year), a 3rd place finish in 08 (sixth
year), 5th place in 2008 and a 2nd place finish this
past season.. Renfro was voted the West Central
District Wrestling Coach of the Year in 03, 05, 06
and '10. He
was also presented with the NJCAA Coaches Association
Coach of the Year Award in 2005.
Coach
Renfro also received the
Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence Awards for the 2007-08
season. In 2010, Coach Renfro also received the NJCAA Wrestling "Man of the Year" award.
Coach Renfro
wrestled for the Redbirds from 95-97, where he himself
earned two All-American titles and an academic
All-American honor. From there, he went to the
University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he again gained
national recognition as an All-American. He was the
assistant coach for the Lopers from 99-00, before
coming back home to help the legendary Coach Jody
Thompson from 00-02. After taking on the head
coach position in 2003, Renfro has helped the Cardinals
to a 64-12-2 dual record. He and his wife
Elisabeth have three children, Lincoln, Isabella and Jace.

Dennis Siegmann
Assistant Wrestling Coach
Coach Siegmann is in his first year as an
assistant coach with the Cardinal wrestling program. He is a
Pennsylvania native, having wrestled and graduated from
Bloomsburg University. He relocated to Bristol, Connecticut to
teach and coach at Bristol Central High School. In 23 years as
head coach he led the Rams to 11 league and two state Class L
championships as well as a mythical State Open Championship in
1985 when his squad had an unprecedented six individual state
champions out of 12 weight classes. Posting a record of
348-109-12, Siegmann coached three All- Americans, 11 State Open
champions and 31 individual state Class L champions.
He has been inducted into the New England
Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Bristol Connecticut Sports Hall of
Fame, and the Connecticut High School Coaches Hall of Fame. He
is a recipient of numerous Coach of the Year honors, Siegmann
retired from coaching after the 1999 season to become principal
of Bristol Central High School until 2009, when he moved to
Kansas. His wife Angela is a native of Independence, KS. He is
also an adjunct geography instructor at LCC.
