RUSSELL HEAD

Russell Head has had a long career in the music industry as a performer, engineer, and producer. After he started playing guitar in 1973, Russ quickly progressed through every style of music including Country, Bluegrass, Rock and R&B, and is widely considered to be one of the best guitarists in the area. After stints in various bands, including performing in Las Vegas show bands for many years, Russ has also worked as a large scale live sound reinforcement tech, monitor and house engineer, for many companies including StagePro in Ottawa, KS.

Russell has experience engineering groups from various genres, including country, gospel, contemporary Christian, rock, rap, and others. He is a multi-instrumentalist, his primary instrument being the guitar.

While Russell teaches the technology based classes, several other faculty teach Lighting Technology, Music Theory, and Arranging for Songwriters. All of the instructors are professionals in their field and meet regularly to evaluate the program and make sure that the students are learning all that they need to succeed in the music industry. It is their goal to make sure that the students understand far more than just how a piece of equipment works, but also why it works, and how the concepts behind it apply to every other piece of equipment like it.

DANIEL BLEY

Daniel Bley got his start at an early age getting his hands on the home stereo system and toy musical instruments before he even knew what they were. Daniel's formal training in music began at age ten when he began to learn trumpet for the school band. This would later lead to the formation of his own band during high school in which he played guitar and sang backup. More importantly, he was defaulted to be the band's sound tech because his parents had a PA they could use. This would turn out to be his passion.

Daniel's skills and talents became vastly more refined when he joined the Recording Arts Technology program at LCC. As a devoted student, he learned all the ins and outs of the program to qualify him to come back after graduation and be an assistant teacher to Russell. Daniel also currently makes his living with a similar position at Parsons High School helping to teach audio production, video editing, and television production among other things. Daniel is also experienced with doing live sound, lighting, and video productions for various local concerts and events.
