Interested Applicants Should:

Request a Labette Community College Respiratory Care Program application by email or telephone (620) 421-6700 ext. 1157 and speak with the Health Science Secretary. This packet will be sent out to you immediately and will contain detailed instructions. A new Respiratory Care class starts every fall semester. Preferential deadline for applications is April 1st.

Selection of Candidates

Minimum Requirements to be Accepted into the Program are:

High School graduate or equivalent

Minimum GPA of 2.5 (students who don't meet this criteria should contact an advisor)

Completion or enrollment in all general education courses toward an A.A.S in Respiratory Care completed prior to entering the first semester of the Respiratory Care Program. An exception will be made for General Psychology and a computer course. (contact an advisor for help with enrollment)

A Reading COMPASS score of > 75 or ACT score of > 17 in reading.

Ability to comply and maintain compliance with Technical Standards.

All candidates accepted in the program will be subject to Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening.

Application Process to the Program:

Deadline for following Fall class is April 1st. After that, applicants will be considered on a space available basis only.

Contact Respiratory Care Program by email or phone (620) 421-6700 ext. 1157 to obtain an application packet. The application packet has detailed instructions regarding the application process.

Return completed application form. It is important to do this so we can contact you.

Schedule a hospital visit by email or phone (620) 421-6700 ext. 1157.

Submit ACT scores or take COMPASS Reading placement test.

Distribute reference forms (contained within application packet) and insure that they are returned to us.

Send high school and college transcripts (transcript request forms are available in the application packet).

Prior to beginning the first fall semester, all candidates must have completed Anatomy and Physiology, English Comp I, English Comp II or Speech, College Algebra or Applied Math, Introduction to Chemistry or Basic Chemistry, General Psychology, and a Computer Science elective.  An exception will be made for General Psychology and the Computer Science elective.

Selection of Candidates:

The Respiratory Care Program accepts up to 25 students into the first year class each fall. The curriculum is rigorous and difficult. The program utilizes a selection process to help insure a successful outcome for all students entering the program. Deadline for application for the following fall is April 1st. Students who apply after that date will be considered on a space available basis.
