In July of 2009 Labette Community College was awarded a $1,999,583 Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the Title III program is to strengthen institutions of higher education by expanding their capacity, improving academic quality, and promoting fiscal stability.

The Labette Community College Title III grant began on October 1, 2009 and will continue for a five year period through September 30, 2014. Grant funds will be utilized to develop and implement three new allied health programs in the areas of:

• Physical Therapist Assistant (Candidate for Accreditation)
• Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• Dental Assistant (Opening Fall 2012)

These programs were carefully chosen by Labette Community College after listening to the interests and needs of students, our community, and our regional and state workforce needs. All of these programs have strong employment and wage potentials throughout the region, state, and nation.
