Robin
C. Jones Rogers, MSN, ANP, BC, CS came to Parsons, Kansas in August of 1970. She
was a broken and somewhat lost young woman who was accepted into the heart and
home of William G., Sr. and E. Ruth Ligon Scott. She was one of the many foster
children that “Mommie and Poppa
Scott” opened their home to through out the years. There she found safety and
built her confidence and vision for her future. She graduated from Labette
County High School in 1974 and Labette Community Junior College in 1979 with an
Associate degree in Nursing. “I have always remembered the wise words of all
my faculty members both academic and nursing. They have served as pathways and
guiding lights to my personal and professional growth.” She was a member of
Phi Theta Kappa at LCJC. Mrs. Rogers
completed her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in
Nursing at Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, Georgia in 2000, where
she was named the Outstanding Graduate Student from the Nursing Department. She
was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau in 2000. She completed her national board
certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in the same year.
Since 1979, she has held numerous positions as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Rogers served as ADN Faculty at South Texas Community College, where she introduced Clinical Care Mapping, a new and innovated way of teaching nursing students how to look at caring for a patient. She is currently working on revisions to her book on the same subject.
Currently
Robin is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Acting Clinical Director of the Richard
E. Shope Regional Vaccine Healthcare Center located at Naval Medical Center
Portsmouth, VA. She is a member of the National Vaccine Healthcare Center
clinical team, which provides clinical assessment, treatment, and management of
vaccine related adverse events among members of the United States military,
Merchant Marines and Department of Defense Beneficiaries, as well as serving as
a resource to other healthcare providers. She is also a member of the Department
of Defense Cardiac Working Group, which evaluates cardiac complications
following vaccination. She received first place recognition at the 19th
Annual Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Research Competition with her Case Report
of “Myopericarditis following Smallpox Vaccination”. She has also
contributed to many other research publications.
She is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and has held the post of Trustee. She is also a member of National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing; American Academy of Nurse Practitioner; American College of Cardiovascular Administrators; American Academy of Medical Administrators; and the American Nurses Association
Robin and H. Wayne Rogers were married in 1983. Wayne retired from the US Navy in 1988. They have one son Seth Robert Rogers. Robin also has a daughter, Sarah L. Cook Swank and a granddaughter Haley Marie Swank. Robin’s son-in law, Christopher Swank is active duty Navy. They all reside in the Tidewater, Virginia area.
