American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students

Applicant must…

  • Be a member of the American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion and shall have paid dues for the two preceding years and for the calendar year in which application is made.
  • Be a student who has had at least one year of college and is in need of financial assistance to pursue an undergraduate degree. Deadline 1 March.

AMVETS National Scholarship Program

Available to financially assist Veterans who have exhausted government aid, or who might not otherwise have the financial means to continue their education. Postmarked on/before 15 April.
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must provide evidence of active duty status or veteran status having served honorably
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED*
  • Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment to an eligible program
  • Must not be in default on a federal student loan
  • Must not be convicted under state or federal law for sale of or possession of illegal drugs
  • Must agree to authorize AMVETS to publicize your scholarship award, if you are selected

Council of College and Military Educators CCME Scholarships

The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) offers $1000 scholarships each year to United States Service members and spouses of Service members who are working towards the completion of higher education degrees. All applicants must submit the CCME Military Personnel Scholarship Application or the CCME Military Spouse Scholarship Application. Deadline 31 October.

Kansas Military Service Scholarship

The Kansas Military Service Scholarship is available for the payment of tuition and fees at a public Kansas institution for students who are a resident of Kansas and has:

  • served in military service in international waters or on foreign soil in support of military operations for which the person received hostile fire pay for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001, or served less than such 90 days because of injuries during such military service;
  • has received an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions (general) discharge from military service or is still in military service; and
  • has provided copies of military discharge papers (DD-214 form) or active duty orders whichever such paper or order indicate the location of such person’s deployment and indicate the person has served after September 11, 2001, in any military operation for which the person received hostile fire pay.

Because financial need is a priority in awarding this scholarship, students will need to file a FAFSA form. Once your school considers you as a graduate status student, you are not eligible for this scholarship.
Priority Deadline: 1 May.

Student Veterans of America Scholarship

Student Veterans of America and Raytheon have partnered to provide two (2) $10,000 scholarships to student veterans demonstrating a commitment to and passion for their chosen field of study, as well as demonstrated leadership and engagement within their community.
All successful candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Army veteran
  • Be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of undergraduate study, or be enrolled in a graduate program for the current academic year
  • Be attending full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and passion for their chosen field of study
  • Demonstrate leadership and engagement in their community
  • Be a current student veteran (includes members of the National Guard or Reserve), as demonstrated by a DD 214 and current transcript
  • Have received an honorable discharge; must be a veteran in good standing

Deadline: 26 April.

Tillman Military Scholarship

To support educational opportunities for Veteran/Active Service Members and their dependents (children and spouses). Intended to cover direct study-related expenses such as tuition, fees, and books, as well as other needs such as room and board and child care. Application period opens 1 February and is due by 1 March.

VFW Military Sport Clips Scholarship

The VFW's "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" provides service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt. It’s just another way for us to say “thank you” to those who fought for our freedoms. 
Applications for the fall semester will be accepted January 1 through April 30.
Applications for the spring semester will be accepted August 1 through November 15.
