Course Description |
This course examines well-defined problems in both theoretical and practical ways. The social problems studied will five the student a base for analyzing and understanding social problems prevalent in society today. A wide variety of topics are discussed including poverty, rave and ethnic relations, gender and social inequality, crime and sexual deviance. Students will be required to purchase and read the textbook. Assignments will come from the text book, PowerPoint lectures, internet sites and other sources, which the instructor will post. No face-to-face testing will occur, but you will have 3 tests and a final exam all completed on-line. You will be required to actively participate in ongoing online discussions with other students and there will be other projects as well. This is not a computer class so a basic knowledge of computers and the internet is required. |
