Course Description

This course examines human social interaction and relationships between groups.  Within the context of classical and contemporary sociology, the course provides an overview of the study of society, the individual in society, social inequality, social institutions, social change, and social issues.  Students will be required to purchase and read the textbook.  Assignments will come from the text book, PowerPoint lectures, internet sites and other sources, which the instructor will post.  No face-to-face testing will occur, but you will have 3 tests and a final exam all completed on-line. You will be required to actively participate in ongoing online discussions with other students and there will be other projects as well.  This is not a computer class so a basic knowledge of computers and the internet is required.
