LCC Auction for Scholarships

Labette Community College prides itself in providing quality education at an affordable value in an ever-changing world. Our students are able to leave LCC valuing the education that will last them a lifetime.

Even though the cost of attending LCC is about half the cost of attending a four year university many of our students still find it difficult to afford, which is why scholarships are so important. During the recent economic downtown, many individuals have returned to higher education to retrain for a new career. With more students returning to school, scholarship dollars are more important than ever. Scholarships help pay for tuition and books and allow people access to an education that will give them a brighter future.

Each year, the LCC Foundation and Alumni Association host the Auction for Scholarships. The Auction is made possible through the generous donations of many businesses, organizations, and community members.

This year’s groovy auction, “Peace, Love and Scholarships”, is destined to be a blast from the past. Wear your tie-dyed t-shirt and bell bottom pants! The event will begin at 6:30 pm on Saturday, April 24 at the VFW with a catered dinner and live and silent auctions and cash drawings.

Both the live and silent auctions provide opportunities for our guests to purchase unique items and help our students. Items include: a Wrightsville Beach condo stay in North Carolina, Branson Vacations, jewelry, KU football tickets, a stay at Timberhill Lodge, autographed music memorabilia, home theater system, movie passes for a year, artwork, hand-made items and much more! There will even be drawings for cash throughout the evening.

Over 50 volunteers and Foundation staff have worked extremely hard to plan and organize a fun, casual evening full of good food, great items to bid on, and the opportunity to help our students achieve their dream of higher education. Without the help of such a supportive College community we wouldn’t be able to support the efforts of our students. On behalf of the scholarship recipients, thank you to all the donors and those planning to attend the 11th Annual Auction for Scholarships.

There is still time to purchase tickets. The admittance is $25 per person or $40 per couple. If you would like to purchase tickets, contact Lindi Forbes at 620-820-1212 or just show up at the door. We look forward to seeing you there.

Together with the Foundation, Alumni Association and donors, our college is doing amazing things for our community and we are proud to serve Labette County. If you have any questions about our college please call me or visit me on campus. I look forward to hearing from you.
