OE Names Student of the Month

 

Lisa Eisenbrandt has been named Labette Community College Operation Excel Student of the Month for May.  Students of the Month must maintain at least a 2.7 GPA, and use OE services such as workshops, tutoring, and counseling/transferring support.  Community service is also part of the selection criteria.

 

Eisenbrandt, a first generation college student, is a sophomore elementary education major and resident of Oswego.  She plans to transfer to Pittsburg State University and complete a bachelor’s degree with a minor in ESL.  She returned to school after being a stay-at-home mother of four for five years.  Her grandfather, also a teacher, and her third grade teacher inspired her to pursue a career in education.

 

She is a member of Operation Excel’s Student Advisory Council.  In addition to her parental and student responsibilities, she also teaches children’s church on Sunday and helps with a Wednesday evening program.       

 

Operation Excel (OE) is a federally funded Student Support Services TRIO Grant at Labette Community College (LCC).  Since 1990, this federal grant has helped over 3,000 students meet their educational goals.
