SkillsUSA Competes at State Competition
The Labette Community
College SkillsUSA organization recently returned from a state competition.
SkillsUSA focuses on Career/Technical Programs for students. Students will
learn leadership and employability skills along with competing at local,
state and national levels.
The LCC SkillsUSA Chapter
earned several awards from the SkillsUSA State competitions:

Technology, Nate Pope – Bronze Medal (3rd place)

Board, Sherry Simpson & Stacy Daugherty – Silver Medal (2nd
place)

Extemporary Speaking,
Pete Reynolds – Gold Medal (1st place)

Job Interview, Lucy
Mwanzia – Gold Medal (1st place)

The LCC Chapter was
awarded the 2008 Kan Do Chapter Award - Gold

The LCC Chapter was
awarded a plaque from the State recognized chartered as an Official
Chapter

Becky Warren was
awarded a plaque of Appreciation for supporting Local State
Parliamentarian Officer, Pete Reynolds

Seven advisors from
LCC & one business & industry member was awarded 1 year certificates &
pins for Professional involvement with SkillsUSA; Becky Warren, Jack
Burke, Delyna Bohnenblust, Jeff Sevart, Linda Moore, Lucille McCune,
Mary Jaegar, and Tiffany Jarman.
Gold Medalist, Pete
Reynolds & Lucy Mwanzia will travel to the National Competition, June 22-28
in Kansas City. Both students are enrolled in the Allied Health Departments.
Reynolds is in the Nursing Program and Mwanzia will begin this summer in the
Radiography Program.
