Ceremony to Honor Wrestling Achievements

 

Labette Community College is holding a recognition ceremony Monday, March 3^rd in the LCC Gym at approximately 12:10 to honor the achievements of the outstanding wrestling team.

 

Out of thirty-six teams, the Labette Cardinals placed 3rd at the NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament this past weekend. Labette had 7 out of 9 wrestlers advance to become All-Americans and ended up with one National Champion. Mikey Morgan finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record to place 1st in the 165 lbs. weight class. Other placers included Scott Berens at 133 lbs. in 6th, Derek Ward at 141 lbs. in 5th, Joseph Cornejo at 157 lbs. in 3rd, Anthony Enyobi at 184 lbs. in 6th, Chance Rencountre at 197 lbs in 6th and Ben Hohensee at heavyweight in 3rd.

 

The Cardinal Wrestling team was also named the Academic All-American team, which means LCC had the highest combined Grade Point Average (GPA) of all teams in the tournament.
