LCC Hendershot Art Gallery hosting “Parsons: Then and Now”

 

Beginning January 19^th and continuing through February 5^th, 2010 the Labette Community College Hendershot Art Gallery will have the exhibit “Parsons: Then and Now” on display. This exhibit is made up of a series of photographs that capture Parsons Businesses and homes around 1900 and recent photographs that show the same locations. Most buildings are different, but some of the photographs depict how strikingly similar the buildings are now as to how they were then.

 

Included in the exhibit will be vintage material books from the early 1900s that feature Parsons and the scenes from the city during that time.

 

“I’ve always been interested in history,” said Dave Mattox, co-author of the book, “Parsons”. “I knew there were other books out there that compared buildings from towns throughout the years, but none from Parsons, so I started taking pictures of different buildings around town and searching for pictures from the past.”
