LCC Receives $100,000.00 Scholarship Endowment

Labette Community College recently received a $100,000.00 commitment for a scholarship endowment. This generous donation comes from the Goppert Foundation. The Goppert Foundation was founded in 1959 by Clarence H. Goppert. Goppert, an area banker and philanthropist, believed in reinvesting earning back into the community and has accomplished just that. The Goppert family owns The Famers National Bank, which has offices in St. Paul, Walnut, and Hepler.

“I attended LCC along with several classmates. I believe LCC is a driving force in education in this area,” said Farmers National Bank President, Joe Smith.

This scholarship endowment is part of LCC’s Pathways to the Future Capital Campaign which also includes a new Health Science Center, parking, and funding for deferred maintenance. The importance of the endowment piece of the campaign is significant because it will provide an opportunity for more students to enter health care professions beginning with an excellent education at LCC.

“This award will allow local students to attend college that may otherwise not be able to attend. We run our bank on the same principal Mr. Goppert did by reinvesting in our community.” Smith said. “LCC is doing this by providing quality education to local students.”

“Joe’s support and belief in our college were instrumental in LCC receiving this fantastic award.” said LCC President, Dr. George Knox.
