LCC Foundation Receives Generosity from Donors

The Labette Community College Foundation is more than half way through their five year capital campaign, “Preparing a Pathway to the Future” and donations and pledges continue to come in. In fact, last month donors were extremely generous.

In December, donors at the $25,000 or higher level included: Labette Bank, Corky and Alice Beachner, Robert and Emma Beachner, Jerry and Janie Beacher, Bill and Louisa Weiner, Sharon Ireland, and Sonny and Sophia Zetmeir.

“Our community has been extraordinarily generous with their donations since we have begun the capital campaign. I feel privileged to belong to a community that believes in the mission of the college in providing excellence in education,” said LCC President, Dr. George C. Knox.

The gifts and pledges in December total more than $300,000. Approximately $260,000 is designated for deferred maintenance in the existing LCC buildings, and over $50,000 is for scholarship endowment. These current gifts bring the campaign total to over $6 million.

“Our donors are diverse in their backgrounds and relationships with the college. Many are alumni, some serve on college committees, and all are community partners working toward a common goal,” said LCC Foundation Executive Director, Lindi Forbes.

Forbes said, “We are grateful for all the donations received thus far. The private donations from local individuals and businesses mean so much to the institution and our students. It is a joy to work with donors to carry out their wishes and help them provide a legacy that will impact students’ lives for generations.”

The “Pathways to the Future” capital campaign goals are to fund a new Health Science Building, deferred maintenance projects, and the all-important student scholarships. For more information on how to help with the campaign, contact Forbes at 820-1212.
