LCC Receives LCC Tech Grant

Labette Community College has just been awarded a $41,463.34 technology grant from the Kansas Board of Regents in order to support the purchase of equipment and technology for our Nursing and Respiratory Care Programs.

The grant, offered by the Kansas Board of Regents, was a competitive grant for institutions of higher learning to purchase technology and equipment in order to enhance education.

The requirements were to show the need for the equipment requested, the project explanation and how it relates to academic improvement, and to offer measurable predicted outcomes and goals for how this project will impact the student population positively.

The grant award was for the full amount LCC requested. This was a 1 to 2 dollar matching grant, in that LCC will contribute $20,731.67 to the total cost of $62,195.00 for all of the equipment.

This grant will help LCC purchase the NOELLE Advanced Birthing Simulator, the Newborn HAL Advanced Newborn (Neonate) Simulator, and the SimMan Advanced Patient Simulator for the Nursing department. The Respiratory Care department will purchase the Drager Baby Log advanced infant respiratory simulator, and Advanced Lung Simulator, and Defibrillator and Monitor.

Labette Community College’s Nursing Program has been in place since 1968, and has graduated over 1500 nurses. 100% of LCC Nursing graduates have gained employment as NCLEX-RN® registered nurses within the professional nursing field.  In tandem with the nursing school, the Respiratory Care department also trains and develops successful graduates who move into careers within Respiratory Care.

This equipment will promote the quality of our Nursing and Respiratory care programs, making LCC’s programs one of the most competitive choices in the state of Kansas for Nursing and Respiratory care education.
