Newberry Awarded Top Business Officer

 

Leanna Newberry, the Labette Community College Vice President of Finance and Operations, has been selected as a 2007 Outstanding Chief Business Officer Award winner through the Community College Business Officers association.

 

Newberry will be recognized at the 25^th Annual International Conference in Orlando, Florida in November.

 

The selection for this prestigious award was made with four main criterion; outstanding accomplishments and college-wide strategic planning, professional activities, community leadership and involvement, and a letter of support or nomination.

 

Newberry has been a member of the Labette Community College staff since 1991. She has been the Accounts Receivable Clerk, Payroll/Human Resources Clerk and Specialist, Interim Dean of Administrative Services, Dean of Administrative Services, and is now the LCC Vice-President of Finance & Operations.

 

Newberry takes an active role in LCC’s Strategic Planning Committee, Enrollment Management Committee, Sick Leave Bank Committee and President’s Council. She is also a part of policy implementation through the President’s Council, is the Vice President of Administrative Services, and volunteers her time at the annual LCC Foundation Auction for Scholarships.

 

Newberry supports the college mission statement by supporting students at athletic events, plays, the annual Student Awards ceremony, is an Advisor of the Phi Beta Lambda organization. She received the Phi Beta Lambda Advisor of the Year Honorable Mention award. She is a member of the Parsons Lions club, and is a graduate of the Parsons Chamber of Commerce Leadership Parsons. She also volunteers for her children’s high school St. Paul Project Prom.
