LCC Ambassadors Selected

 

Labette Community College has chosen the new Student Ambassadors for the 2007-2008 school year. The Ambassadors serve as student representatives of LCC and help with recruitment, public relations and to act as liaisons between visiting students and the LCC student body.

 

The LCC Student Ambassadors take part in a variety of campus activities like Senior Day, hosting homecoming, Halloween in the Park, the Parsons Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, campus tours, helping at Liberal Arts events, and other on-campus events.

 

Each student went through a nomination and interview process before being selected as an Ambassador. The selected students earn scholarships through participation in monthly meetings, activities, community service and campus service.

 

The following students were selected as new Student Ambassadors for the 2007-2008 school year: Sean Mitchel Burr,  Freshman, a baseball player from Joplin, MO; Breah Andrews, Freshman from Erie, KS playing Volleyball and Basketball; Jim Gilpin, Freshman from rural Parsons, Education major; Ben Hohensee, Sophomore wrestler from Monett, MO; Matthew Jaramillo, Freshman wrestler from Owasso, OK; Natasha Jones, Freshman from Parsons, Non-traditional Nursing major; Valerie Messer, Freshman from Columbus, Non-traditional student in Operation Excel; Colt Nickell, Freshman wrestler from LaCygne, KS; Tara VanLeeuwen, Freshman from St. Paul, Communication major.

 

These ambassadors join returning ambassadors, Nicole Almond and Charla Dixon of Parsons, Alex Polzin of Emporia, Audra Rush of Erie, and Joel Ybarra of Altamont. The ambassadors will be busy this fall with projects like assisting with the Gribben English Lecture Series, Campus Tours, Kids Fall Fest, Card Night, LCC Student Leadership Conference, and co-sponsoring a student trip to a Kansas City Chiefs football game with SGA.
