SYSTEM PLANS ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE DINNER
The annual legislative dinner of the Southeast Kansas System of Higher Education will be held Tuesday, November 6 at Neosho County Community College at 6pm. The System is a voluntary consortium of the six community colleges and two Regents’ Universities located in Southeast Kansas.
The participating schools include: Labette Community College, Allen County Community College, Coffeyville Community College, Emporia State University, Fort Scott Community College, Independence Community College, Neosho County Community College and Pittsburg State University.
The event gives members of the System an opportunity to inform the legislators about cooperative programs and initiatives among System institutions. The presidents from the community colleges and the universities will be addressing the legislators as well as student graduates from the community colleges and universities.
Members of the System share a collective goal to deliver outstanding, comprehensive, educational opportunities and related services to the citizens of the region. This link enables the institutions to work together to build on each other's strengths through cooperative initiatives in educational programming, economic development and cultural opportunities. By working cooperatively, the members also present a unified voice to State Legislature on the educational issues of Southeast Kansas.
Some local legislators invited to attend include: Richard Proehl, Dwayne Umbarger, Doug Gatewood and many others. AT&T Kansas will be the corporate sponsor for the event.
