Cardinal Checklist

Following this list will prepare you for the enrollment process, and keep you up on important dates and deadlines at Labette Community College.

Visit! By doing this, you will allow yourself the opportunity to come see for yourself all of the great things we have to offer on our student friendly campus. Daily visit and campus tour times can be scheduled between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Contact our Admissions Office at 1-888-LABETTE  ext. 1225, or email the Admissions Office with the date and time you want to visit and we will make all of the necessary arrangements.

Complete Application/Enrollment Form: Application/Enrollment forms can be picked up in the LCC Admissions office or you may download the form from our website at www.labette.edu/stusvcs/application_Enrollment_Form.pdf. The form may be mailed to us after completion or you may bring it with you the day you plan to enroll.

Apply For Financial Aid: Fill out the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or use the paper form, which you can get from your high school guidance counselor or at the LCC Admissions office. LCC’s school FAFSA code, which you will need to complete the application, is 001930. There are staff members available at LCC to assist you with filling out and properly completing your FAFSA. You will not need to complete this step until after January 1, annually because it will be based on the previous year's income tax information of you and/or your parents.

Working here

Apply For Scholarships: Fill out the LCC Scholarship Form, and send it in to our Financial Aid Office before the Priority Deadline of April 1st. The LCC Scholarship Form is available online, or you can pick up a copy in our Office of Admissions. At LCC, we offer a range of scholarships based of anything from grade point average, to extra curricular activities such as music or athletics. Please contact Nancy Seal (Ext. 1226 or nancys@labette.edu) or Kathy Johnston (Ext.1274 or kathyj@labette.edu) in our Financial Aid Office with any questions you may have, or if you just want more information sent to you about the various scholarship opportunities.

Familiarize Yourself With The Semester Course Schedule: Please look through the coming semester course schedule to give yourself an idea as to what courses are being offered, and at what times. This will better prepare you to work with your advisor, so that you two can form a schedule that you’re comfortable with. View our semester course schedule online, or request one by contacting us via phone (1-888-LABETTE) or e-mail Admissions (admissions@labette.edu), so that a copy can be sent to you.

Submit All High School and/or College Transcripts To The Admissions Office: This should be done as soon as possible following graduation. All transcripts must be official, so you should either have them sent directly from your school to LCC, or if delivered by you, the transcripts must be sealed in an envelope directly from the issuing school.

Submit ACT Scores To The Admissions Office: This is required prior to enrollment. You and your high school should both have a copy of your ACT scores that you could submit to us. If you have not taken the ACT at the time of enrollment, then you can simply follow the next step on the list.

Complete The Compass Placement Exams: The Compass tests are for those students who have either not taken the ACT at all, or those who have taken the ACT, but have not met the required scores in one or all of three areas: Reading, English, and Math. The following minimum scores are needed in order to avoid taking the Compass test in that particular area: Reading-18, English-18, Math-20.

Enroll With Your Assigned Advisor: You will be assigned an advisor based on your major of choice, or primary area of interest. As the student, it will be your responsibility to make an appointment with your advisor so that you can come in and officially get enrolled.

Arrange Payments Methods With The Business Office: There are a number of ways that payment can be taken care of with us here at LCC. Please feel free to explore all of those options with our business office staff. You can also view payment options online at www.labette.edu.

Find Housing: The College does not provide on-campus housing, or residence halls. However, there are a number of other very affordable housing, and apartment options throughout  Parsons that may be available to you. Please feel free to contact our admissions department regarding a list of realtors in Parsons. This will prove very helpful in allowing you to find a place that is suited to your needs.
