Over the last several months many lenders have stopped offering Stafford Loans due to changes in federal regulations. We have listed lenders that LCC students have used recently. However, we will gladly work with any lender you choose. There are hundreds of lenders and it is important that you select a lender that you feel comfortable with and that meets your needs. Therefore, please investigate different lenders before making your decision. You will note that some lenders have special rate reductions if, for example, you agree to use an auto-debit or if you make a certain number of payments on time. Compare the benefits before you make your selection. The Financial Aid Office has adopted the Kansas Attorney General's Student Loan Code of Conduct. We apply the principles of this Code of Conduct to our interactions with lenders, students, and parents. Before you apply for a loan, be aware that the federal government puts a limit on how much you can borrow for your education. Be very sure that you actually need the loan at this time for your educational expenses. Since the cost of attending LCC is much less than that of any four year institution, it might serve your educational needs better to use your loan eligibility after you graduate from LCC and transfer to a 4 year institution. However, if you need a loan to pay for your college expenses take the time to find a lender who offers the benefits that meets your needs. No matter which lender you select, you must first do the entrance exam. After you complete your education at LCC or drop lower than 6 credit hours, you must do the exit exam.
