DEGREE COMPLETER ASSESSMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS COMPLETING A DEGREE

 

Students receiving an associate degree must take a series of assessments prior to spring graduation.  Students completing degree requirements in the fall must contact the Student Success Center Assessment Coordinator prior to November 1st to make arrangements for these assessments.  Students with academic concentrations will take a minimum of five of the seven possible exams:  Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) test: Writing, Reading, Mathematics, Science Reasoning, and Critical Thinking, College Base test for Social Sciences, LCC Humanities test and Computer Skills test.  The Assessment Coordinator assigns tests at random prior to testing date.

 

Students with careertechnical concentrations will take the WorkKeys test.  Students taking the Work Keys will take three sectional exams:  Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Writing.

 

It is the student’s responsibility to register for the tests.  When reporting for testing students will be required to present a photo ID and follow the rules of an ACT testing site.  A hold will be placed on the transcript of an candidate who has not taken the appropriate assessment(s).

  

LCC offers exit assessment testing for the following purposes:

  1. To enhance the student's ability to transfer to a University or obtain a job.

  2. To help the College improve the instructional programs by measuring and reporting student progress an skills.

  3. To determine the level of educational development for individual students as a means of identifying

    interventions needed to prepare students for further education.
