STUDENT INFORMATION
Under Section 438 of the General Education Provision Act as amended; Part 99, PRIVACY RIGHTS OF PARENTS AND STUDENTS, Subsection 99.37, educational institutions may disclose to the public personally identifiable information about students provided that it is classified as directory information. Each student has the right to refuse the release of all or part of the directory information concerning him or her. This refusal must be in writing to the Registrar by the third week of courses each semester.
Areas in which student records are maintained:
1. Academic Records: Student Affairs Offices; Offices of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and faculty; academic advisors; Student Success Center.
2. Student Affairs Records: Student Affairs Office.
3. Financial Records: Finance & Operations Office; Financial Assistance Office.
4. Information Services Office.
A. Directory Information: Student information may be released by authorized College officials to competent persons with a need to know without the consent of the student. This includes agencies directly affiliated with the College such as the Foundation, Public Relations, Student Support Services Talent Search, Student Success Center and authorized educational institutions. This includes pictures of students and their families and friends participating in college activities. If you want to change your directory information contact the SAO, second floor Student Union. Students not wanting their directory information released should contact the SAO within the first three weeks of each semester to complete the proper form. A charge of $1.00 per page beginning with the third copy will be assessed the student for reproduction of any requested records. Directory information is considered as:

· Name · Address · Current telephone number · Current enrollment status · Participation in official activities (athletics) · Program/Concentration · Previous institution most recently attended and similar information as permitted by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. · Degrees and awards received · Dates of attendance · Date of graduation |
B. Student Records: Students have the right to inspect and review any and all official records, files and data directly related to the student. Students may be granted access to their personal college records within a period of 45 days after the request has been made. No records pertaining to the student shall be removed from the office where the records are maintained. Students shall have the opportunity for a hearing to challenge the content of the student’s college records to insure that the records are not inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the privacy act or other rights of students and to provide an opportunity for the correction or deletion of any such inaccurate data contained therein. No personal college records of a student will be released to any person or agency outside the institution without the written consent of the student. The college may provide a form for this purpose. College or personally identifiable data specifically authorized by federal law shall not include information that would permit personal identification of the student. Documentation of authorized persons, agencies, or organizations desiring access to the records of a student will sign a written form that shall be kept permanently with the file of the student, as required by law, but only for inspection by the student.
C. Student Right to Know/Campus Security Act: This report is provided in compliance with the federal Student Right-To-Know and Campus Security Act, Public 101-542. The regulations of this law require an institution of higher learning to disclose information about the completion or graduation rates and campus safety policies and procedures to current and prospective students and employees.
