H1N1 PLAN
Labette Community College Talent Search
The Labette Community College (LCC) Talent
Search program has established the following plan for its staff and
participants in the event of a pandemic influenza outbreak,
including H1N1. Since
Talent Search’s primary activities occur away from the
LCC campus, it is essential that the program’s staff have a plan in
place.
As a federal grant program funded through LCC, this program shall
first and foremost follow the H1N1 Plan and any health-related
policies and procedures implemented by the host institution.
In the event the host institution decides to close the college
campus and/or extension sites due to a pandemic influenza outbreak,
Talent Search shall postpone grant operations in its target area
until the college reopens. As long as the host institution
remains open, Talent Search shall
follow the college’s H1N1 plan and utilize all recommended
preventative measures.
In the event the host institution remains open and a pandemic
influenza outbreak occurs in the target area schools served by
Talent Search, this program shall follow the H1N1 or pandemic plan
of each school it serves. If the target school declares a pandemic
influenza outbreak, the following procedures shall be implemented by
the
advisors while performing school visitations:
-
If an advisor arrives at a school and is
advised of a pandemic influenza outbreak, he/she shall leave the
premises immediately.
-
If an advisor visits a target school and
notices students wearing facemasks or obvious influenza or H1N1
symptoms, he/she shall leave the premises immediately
-
If an advisor is conducting a school
visitation and notices the following:
o
Low attendance due to influenza
o
Participants demonstrating H1N1 symptoms
The advisor shall immediately cancel the visitation and notify the
participating school’s administration that shall postpone
future visitations until the influenza or H1N1 outbreak subsides.
The advisor shall not return to the school until a determination is
made by the following administrative officials whether a resumption
of visitations is deemed safe and in the best interest of the
students:
Since it is the responsibility of this program to provide its staff
and participants a safe and healthy environment to participate in,
the Project Director shall monitor the host institution and target
school’s health bulletins to determine future actions. |
