Purpose
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) has been created to assist students with covering any component of the student’s cost of attendance (COA); or emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus, such as but not limited to tuition, food, housing, health care, mental health care, or child care. Labette Community College is required to prioritize grants to students demonstrating exceptional financial need.
Eligible students
US Citizen or an Eligible Non-Citizen and Currently Enrolled at Labette Community College.
At this time DACA and International Student are not eligible for HEERF II funds under 8 USC 1611(a) of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (1996 welfare reform Law)
Frequency of Payments
One-time payments will be made to the students that qualify. Tentative dates:
- April 15, 2021 - $7,850 Disbursed to 10 students
- April 29, 2021 - $29,825 Disbursed to 43 students
- May 12, 2021 - $69,900 Disbursed to 100 students
- May 26, 2021 - $26,575 Disbursed to 39 students
- June 9, 2021 - $41,975 Disbursed to 62 students
- June 23, 2021 - $39,375 Disbursed to 90 students
- July 21, 2021 - $73,375 Disbursed to 213 students
- August 9, 2021 - $120,245 Disbursed to 404 students
HEERF II Funds have been depleted. Labette Community College can make adjustments to this plan as seen needed to benefit students that have been impacted by the disruptions of campus operations do to coronavirus.
Labette Community College signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA (HEERF II) and ARP (HEERF III) (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
Labette Community College will receive a total of $ 1,961,626 of CRRSAA Funds. The amount designated to provide Emergency Financial Aid grants to students is $ 406,120.
As of August 9, 2021, $406,120 CRRSAA (HEERF II) Student funds have been disbursed to 814 Labette Community College students.
Labette Community College estimates to serve 1142 students with the Emergency relief funds.

The maximum amount HEERF III Grant a student can receive is $1,200 per semester.
Fall 2021 HEERF III awards are based on enrollment status as of October 25, 2021.
Spring 2022 HEERF III awards are based on enrollment status as of April 1, 2022.
Spring 2023 HEERF III awards are awarded to students that received a Pell grant in the Spring 2023 semester with the highest unmet need based on the student’s enrollment status as of 4/5/2023.
