Deadline Approaching for LCC Scholarship Applications

February 14, 2024

The Labette Community College (LCC) Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. The scholarship is open to current LCC students, prospective LCC students, and high school seniors. To be given priority consideration, the application must be submitted by March 4, 2024. Interested applicants can access the online application via www.labette.edu/financialaid/scholarships.html. This online application will ensure students are considered for Foundation and LCC institutional scholarships.

“The Foundation Scholarship Committee will award hundreds of scholarships, which have been established by caring individuals who want to help students reach their goals,” stated Lindi Forbes, Foundation and Alumni Association Executive Director. “Last year, the LCC Foundation provided $130,676 to students to help pay for tuition fees and books.  Funding comes from endowed scholarships, annual donations, and proceeds from the Auction for Scholarships each year.”

There are also a variety of institutional scholarships that students may qualify for:

  • Academic Scholarships are based on college or high school grade point average (GPA). High school students may apply for the scholarship for the upcoming academic year following high school graduation, with renewal pending on grade performance and availability of funds.
  • Labette County Resident Scholarships can provide tuition for up to sixteen credit hours per semester at LCC.
  • Cardinal Academic Scholarships can provide tuition for up to 16 credit hours per semester to incoming in-state high school students with a GPA of 3.0 who live outside of Labette County.
  • Cardinal Pathway Scholarship can provide tuition for up to 16 credit hours per semester to incoming high school students with a high school GPA 3.5, who reside in bordering states.

Another scholarship opportunity for LCC students is provided through the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas. The “M.L. (Lee) & Noretta Caldwell Scholarship” is restricted to business, science, technology, or teaching students. Students can access the Caldwell Scholarship application at https://southeastkansas.org/students/scholarships/. The deadline to apply for the Caldwell Scholarship is March 31, 2024.
