Labette Community College (LCC) has been honored for outstanding website design through its recent recognition in the 2023 Collegiate Advertising Awards Program. The college's achievement comes as a result of its outstanding 100-Year Celebration website, designed by LCC Webmaster and Graphic Design Technology Professor, Melissa Kipp. The award-winning website can be viewed at www.labette.edu/100.

The Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) is a distinguished program that recognizes excellence in communication, marketing, advertising, and promotions within higher education institutions across the United States and Canada. LCC's submission competed against institutions of similar size in the website design category and received a Silver Award, signifying a score between 90-94 points and placing Kipp's design in the top 12% nationwide.

The judging criteria encompassed creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal, highlighting the comprehensive excellence of LCC's 100-Year Celebration website.

"We are thrilled to be recognized among the nation's top educational institutions through the Collegiate Advertising Awards Program," said Jason Sharp, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Labette Community College. "This achievement is a testament to Melissa Kipp's exceptional talent and dedication to excellence in design and education."

The 2023 CAA program attracted numerous entries from both the United States and Canada, representing a diverse range of institutions from small community colleges to large universities. The caliber of submissions underscores the program's commitment to acknowledging the best advertising projects in the realm of higher education.

“Melissa's expertise in graphic design and photography, coupled with her extensive experience in web development and teaching, is very worthy of recognition,” Sharp said. Kipp holds A.A.S. & B.S.T. degrees in Graphic Design and Photography from Labette Community College and Pittsburg State University, as well as an M.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Photojournalism from PSU.

“Melissa has been an invaluable asset to the college since 2008. She has received the esteemed Distinguished Faculty Award twice, in 2016-2017 and 2020-2021, underscoring her exemplary teaching methods,” said LCC President Mark Watkins. “Our college’s centennial year has been extraordinary, and the special website Melissa created is simply a wonderful palette to showcase LCC’s history and special events. We are proud to celebrate this remarkable creative accomplishment.”
