Suicide Awareness

Parsons, KS— According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 132 suicides occur each day in the U.S. In an effort to combat this locally, Labette Community College Public Relations student Dakari Ervin is hosting a weeklong event called “Live for Tomorrow.”

This event is designed to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Students, employees, and community members are invited to stop by the LCC Cardinal Café April 15-18 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. to receive information about mental health resources available in the area.

The event is free of charge, but donations will be accepted to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The AFSP is a nonprofit organization helping save lives and bringing hope to those impacted by mental health issues.

For additional information contact Dakari Ervin, LCC Communication major at dakari.ervin@student.labette.edu. To donate directly to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, visit afsp.org
