Parosns Ks, April 1st –   Labette Community College communication major, Tanihya Porter, is hosting “The Helping Shelf” to support the college student pantry. This initiative aims to raise essential donations, providing much-needed support to students facing food insecurity.

The fundraiser is calling on college employees and community members to contribute non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and grab-and-go snacks to help stock the pantry. Items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and individually packaged snacks are especially needed.

“Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to basic necessities, so they can focus on their education without worrying about where their next meal is coming from,” said Tanihya, the organizer of the project. “This event is not just about raising donations; it’s about bringing our community together for a great cause.”

Donations can be dropped off at the LCC Student lounge from April 21 to the 25. Community members, local businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate by donating or spreading the word. Monetary contributions are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional supplies for the pantry.
