Community Support Makes a Big Impact for LCC on Giving Tuesday

Mike Brotherton, member of LCC’s Hendershot Gallery Committee, volunteered alongside Dr. Mark Watkins, LCC President, and Lindi Forbes, LCC Foundation Executive Director, sharing information with visitors about the importance of supporting the LCC Endowment for the Arts.

Parsons, KS – Generous community support helped make the 10th Annual Parsons Area Community Foundation (PACF) Giving Tuesday Match Day a success for Labette Community College students.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of donors, volunteers, and PACF, the LCC Endowment for the Arts received $7,300 in donations, along with $570 in prizes and incentives and $1,181.15 in matching funds, for a total of $9,051.15. The LCC Athletics Endowment also benefited from the community’s generosity, receiving $1,420 in donations, $85 in prizes and incentives, and $229.76 in matching funds, resulting in a total of $1,734.76 raised.

“These results reflect what makes our community truly special,” said Lindi Forbes, Executive Director of the Labette Community College Foundation & Alumni Association. “Every donation adds up to life-changing opportunities for our students. We are incredibly grateful to our donors who chose to invest in the future of LCC, to the Parsons Area Community Foundation for organizing this outstanding event and providing matching funds, and to the many volunteers who spent the day welcoming donors and supporting this effort.”

PACF’s annual Match Day brings together nonprofits and community members for one day of collective giving, with donations enhanced through a community match pool as well as prizes and incentives.

“The success of Giving Tuesday Match Day continues to demonstrate the power of local philanthropy,” Forbes added. “Because of this generosity, LCC’s endowed funds will continue to provide lasting support for arts programming and for our student-athletes for generations to come.”

Dr. Mark Watkins, LCC President, and Lindi Forbes, LCC Foundation Executive Director, enjoyed interacting with third grade students from Garfield Elementary School while handing out Cardinal mascot temporary tattoos. Some children applied their tattoos right away, while others saved theirs for later.
